We wish that people will make it a habit to check the air quality before heading out for a walk, a run, or a visit to the park with their children – just like they check the weather before leaving home.
Alfa Proxima d.o.o. is an innovative Slovenian company establishing itself as a pioneer at the intersection of environmental sciences, smart data technologies, and sustainable services for the public and educational sectors. Our work addresses to global challenges, such as climate change, the growing need for micro-location-based environmental monitoring, and citizens’ expectations regarding transparency and accountability in local politics.
Alfa Proxima’s core business is the development, implementation, and management of systems for indicative air quality monitoring, where accessibility, flexibility, low initial cost and high interpretive value of the data play a central role. The company’s monitoring systems are based on a combination of advanced sensors and its SensWare digital platform, which enables the visualization and real-time monitoring of environmental trends.
Unlike traditional models based on device sales, Alfa Proxime uses an advanced “data-as-a-service” business approach. In this model, users – primarily municipalities, schools, preschools, health-care institutions, and other public services – do not purchase sensors, but rather access to relevant, structured, and meaningfully interpreted data. This reduces the burden on municipal budgets while enabling a faster implementation of environmental protection measures.
The company’s vision is to create a smart, decentralized, and publicly accessible environmental data system that will serve as a tool for decision-making, awareness-raising, and prevention. Particular emphasis is placed on supporting municipalities in managing sensitive infrastructure, such as schools, hospitals, and nursing homes, where air pollution can directly affect health of the most vulnerable groups.
